Module-1
Course on Basic Electricals
  1. What is Electricity(Voltage, Current, Resistance, etc.,)
  2. Work, Power & Energy, Magnetism, Alternating Current
  3. Basic Electrical laws (Ohms Law, Kirchhoff’s law, etc.,)
  4. Common Electrical Accessories( Voltmeter, Ammeter, Multimeter, Watt meter, Megger, Oscilloscope, PF meter, Energy Meter, Phase sequence detector etc.,) with demo
  5. Exe.-1Measurement of Voltage, current, power in DC & AC Circuits
  6. Exe.-2: Practice on measurement of resistance with series, parallel and mixed circuits.
  7. Exe.-3- Demo:- Practice on Soldering, Screw Drivers, Spanners, Pliers, Nippers, Hammers, Hacksaw, Cutters, Chisels, Allen Keys, hand drill, try square, gimlet, bench vice, Practice Filing, Crimping tool, Measuring tape, Mallet, Wire stripper.
  8. Cabling / wiring(various types of wires and cables& accessories with demo session )
  9. Generation, Transmission and Distribution Of Electricity & Lightening arrestor
  10. Visit to22KV/ 11 KV substation
Module-2
Introduction to Renewable and Solar Energy
  1. Introduction to Renewable Energy( Solar, Wind, Biomass, etc.,)
  2. Introduction to Solar Energy and Solar Radiation, its importance, Differentiate solar PV and solar thermal energy

 

Module-3
Introduction of Photovoltaic Technology and its applications
  • Basics of Light to Energy Conversion & History of solar cell
  • Understanding basic terminologies of a PV cell (I-V Curve, efficiency, Fill Factor(FF))
  • Classification of PV Modules based upon technology, STC test conditions
  • Solar Cells to Module, Module name plate specifications, Module to Array and Basic Structure of PV with Demo session
  • Exe.- 4. I-V Characteristics of Solar PV ( calculating Pmax, efficiency & FF) using Solar PV Emulator
  • Factors affecting output of a PV module (Temperature, Irradiance, Tilt angle, cell area, Shadowing, dust, mismatch, PV module configurations, MPPT operation etc.)
  • Applications of PV, different configurations of PV power system: Stand alone, Grid, hybrid system etc
  • Final drive system
  • Automatic transmission system
Module-4
Components of a PV System: Battery, inverter and Charge controllers
  • Introduction: Batteries, type of batteries, operation and structure
  • Basic Terminologies of a Battery, Charging & Discharging Characteristics
  • Exe. - 4. Charging & Discharging Characteristics of Batteries
  • Battery Maintenance with accessories ( Gravity Tester , Flow meter, etc.,)
  • Introduction: Inverter, type of Inverters, operation, make and specifications
  • Basic Terminologies of a Inverter and Characteristics
  • Exe. – 5. Calculate the Efficiency of Inverter
  • Basics of Charge controllers, operation and specifications, DC-DC converters and MPPT concepts
  • Components of a grid connected SPV system (ACB, DB and cabling)

 

Module-5
Fundamentals of PV system sizing& Trouble Shooting
  • What is Sizing, significance and steps involved in sizing?
  • Load Estimation, analysis and basics on energy efficiency
  • Site survey and assessment. Shading analysis, Customer profiling and Role play
  • Inverter, Battery sizing and its aspects
  • Various steps involved in sizing of grid connected PV systems
  • Introduction to Trouble Shooting of PV Modules, Batteries, Inverters and Charge controllers
Module-6
Installation, Commissioning and Testing of Solar Power plant
  • Preparation and general considerations for installation (DC and AC components)
  • Installation of Array support structure and mounting of PV modules, Interconnection of modules, strings and Combiner boxes
  • Installation of other System components, i.e. Inverter, battery, AC and DC power distribution boxes, etc
  • Cabling & Wiring
  • General safety consideration in the installation phase of solar power plant and safe handling of tools with demo The procedures involved in the commissioning of the power plants
  • Electrical testing of PV arrays, inverters and other system components
  • Complete System Testing, functional testing and trouble shooting, islanding protection

Operation and Maintenance of Solar power plant(In plant Training)
