OVERVIEW

Mechatronics is an interdisciplinary area of engineering that combines mechanical and electrical engineering and computer science. A typical mechatronic system picks up signals from the environment, processes them to generate output signals, transforming them for example into forces, motions and actions. Mechatronics deals with robotics, control systems, and electro-mechanical systems.

Mechatronics elements
- Data conversion devices, sensors, micro sensors, transducers, signal processing devices, relays, contactors and timers.
Processors /controllers
- Microprocessors, microcontrollers, PID controllers and PLCs.
Drives and mechanisms of an automated system
- Drives: stepper motors, servo drives. Ball screws, linear motion bearings, cams, systems controlled by camshafts, electronic cams, indexing mechanisms, tool magazines, and transfer systems.
Hydraulic system Hydraulic systems:
- Flow, pressure and direction control valves, actuators, and supporting elements, hydraulic power packs, and pumps.
- Design of hydraulic circuits.
Pneumatic system Pneumatics:
- Production, distribution and conditioning of compressed air, system components and graphic representations, design of systems.
CNC technology and Robotics
- CNC machines and part programming. Industrial Robotics.

Recognize the need for self and life-long learning, keeping pace with technological challenges in the broadest sense.
Understand the fundamentals of mechanical, electrical, electronic and computing systems and their application in the different fields of automation.
Design and develop Mechatronics systems by synergistic combination of precision mechanical engineering, electronic controls and computing systems.
Incorporate multi-disciplinary approach to solve real world automation problems
